Led by the Spirit

One of the ideas that we need to guard against is in thinking that the Holy Spirit is responsible for giving us certain feelings that make us think we can act certain ways. Scripture teaches, “For all who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God” (Romans 8:14). Yet being led by the Spirit is not the idea that the Spirit is whispering in our ears or giving us feelings that make us think we can act as we desire. It would be wrong to attribute to the Spirit what the Spirit never claimed to do. Being led by the Spirit is not about how we feel about something. If we are led by the Spirit, our feelings need to be brought under subjection to His revealed will.
